Been doing a bunch of playing of the different characters to understand where each character is useful and where they may have challenges.
Circle 3.1 adds the ability to extend duration by casting a spell multiple times which is very use for sanctuary and other spells. However, I did feel the need to tweak the mana regen rates because I don’t want to bore the players. I didn’t touch standing regen rates as they are would impact fighting. However, the sleeping regen rates were increased to improve game play speed. Nobody likes to sit around waiting.
Warriors and thieves lack skills at higher levels. I’ve added second attacks for both and a third attack for warriors of higher levels. Mages have a pretty significant disadvantage in that their attacks don’t generate the same damage as a warrior or a thief. Mana costs limit spell casting and the actual damage inflicted by an attack spell is much less than a handheld weapon. I’m adjusting the mana costs and damage inflicted by various spells to create a balance to give mages a better ability to cause damage. Also, I will look at some additional non-damage spells to give mages a greater usefulness.
Clerics will benefit from additional spells in the upcoming future as well. There is less need here as clerics have significant value already. However, there is some possibility for improvement to keep the classes balanced.
Thieves are also in lesser need of adjustment. The second attack keeps the pretty balanced especially with their lock picking skills. I will look at them last to see what other unique abilities could make the class more desirable.
Stat rolling is always a big tweak area. I’ve made some changes to the stat rolling to be a bit more generous. I’ve also added a rebirth option when a character maxes out their xp. Rebirth allows the player to reroll as many times as they like before excepting the new stats. The player also has the option to increase two stats or the same stat twice. This gives players a way to improve their characters that they have leveled to the maximum.
